We are inching closer to filling another coaching vacancy in the NBA. The Memphis Grizzlies may have found their man in James Borrego, according to ESPN’s Marc Stein:
As Frank Vogel inches closer to the Magic job, rumbles in NBA coaching circles get louder that James Borrego has an inside track in Memphis.

Borrego is currently an assistant to Gregg Popovich in San Antonio. He previously served as the interim head coach for the Orlando Magic after Jacques Vaughn was fired last year but was replaced by the recently resigned Scott Skiles.
Stein also reported that Miami Heat assistant David Fizdale has made a strong impression on the Memphis front office.
Borrego has 15 years of experience as a coach at various levels and while he is a relative unknown, he may be a worthwhile risk for the Grizzlies. It appears as if the team had set its sights on recently let-go Indiana Pacers head coach Frank Vogel but with Vogel seemingly close to reaching a deal with the Magic, the Grizzlies were forced to move on.
There are a few coaches still available and nothing is set in stone, but for now it appears like James Borrego may be the next head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies.
