Reggie Becton may have laid his roots in Philadelphia, Maryland and Los Angeles, but his musical impact is quickly spreading around the world. Not only did the Sad Boy singer recently lock in with Jermaine Dupri, but he also landed songwriting credits across Kehlani’s latest album, Crash. Now, he’s back to pushing his solo work and his latest offering is the Chris Felix-directed video for “Leaves.”
“In true Sad Boy fashion, Sad Boy vividly recounts what happened between him and his then-girlfriend, Gia,” the video’s description reads.
The visual kicks off with Sad Boy, played by Reggie Becton, and his then-girlfriend, Gia, running out of a bank with tons of cash and embarking on a car chase with the police. Making matters worse, the singer is left with a hole in his chest after being shot as the couple escaped. As it turns out, the car chase appears to be a dream, but the singer is still left with a hole in his heart as his relationship with Gia is still very much uncertain. Instead of going on a car chase, the two find themselves in a Halloween party, trading glances. The camera even pans to a set of balloons spelling out the word, “Ghost,” a callback to his late 2020 collaboration with Grace Weber. Like the 2020 track, there’s no good ending to this romance. Ultimately, Reggie Becton finds himself in the parking lot telling his friends about how Gia kissed him at the party and then disappeared, leaving him wanting more but just not getting it.
