Regal Cinemas has announced that it will close its doors for the foreseeable future amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. By doing so, Regal Cinemas will join the likes of AMC and Cinemark, who have both closed their doors for the foreseeable future.
“Any time, at any Regal, it’s our goal to provide a safe and healthy environment for our employees and guests,” Regal Cinema CEO Mooky Greidinger told Deadline.
“At this time, we have made the difficult decision to close our theaters. We value our movie-loving customers and have no doubt we will be serving them again as soon as possible with a full slate of Hollywood blockbusters,” he added.
Major markets such as New York and Los Angeles have shut down theaters citywide as well. Furthermore, health officials have urged against social gatherings of more than ten people.
Adapting to the current climate, Universal Pictures will attempt to release movies online for $20. Other films like F9, A Quiet Place II, Antebellum and No Time To Die have all been pushed back.
