New York Knicks point guard Raymond Felton plead guilty to charges of criminal possession of a weapon and will be subjected to 500 community service hours and a $5,000 fine.
On Monday, The Assosicated Press’ Jennifer Peltz reported that Felton is expected to enter the plea on June 30th. ESPNNewYork.com’s Mike Mazzeo relayed a statement from Jim Walden, Felton’s attorney.
“We thank the [Manhattan] district attorney for focusing on the facts, and only the facts.”
The NBA has yet to issue any type of discipline yet for the point guard, but with a possible felony conviction might just get Felton some sort of punishment.
The Knicks leaning towards building a championship team with Phil Jackson taking over as team president might not mean good things for Felton’s future as the Knicks point guard. An option a point guard, if the Knicks do end up trading Iman Shumpert for a late first round pick, opens the possibility of bringing in 2 time NCAA Champion, UConn point guard, Shabazz Napier.
