Everything is a mess. After Terry’s reveal to Ray at the end of episode 7, everything has completely spiraled out of control. Mickey is up shits creek in multiple ways, Bunchy is broke, Terry is living a lie, and Ray is well Ray. Everyone being caught up in their own drama is nothing new, but the gravity of what each one of them is involved with this time around is what separates this season from the past. We’ve got dead FBI directors, millions of lost dollars, deep dark family secrets that have still yet to be revealed and apparently (spoilers) a dead movie star in a certain someone’s bed. ‘Mister Lucky‘ proved to be another solid episode on the backend of this season but it also seems as if they’re beginning to set up next season. The magnitude of the situations each Donovan is involved with doesn’t seem like it will be able to be wrapped up in the next few weeks. Specifically, the situation with the FBI. This is definitely spoiler territory so if you’re adverse please stop reading here.
Once Mickey and Daryll murdered the head of the LA Bureau of the FBI, who has been a recurring character for several seasons now, everything changed. The amount of heat that will be rained down upon the Donovans will be like nothing we’ve ever seen before and all of them will be linked to it. In a quieter moment during ‘Mister Lucky’, Ray placed a phone call to the recently deceased head of the FBI and left a message saying ‘We had a deal’ which I think could come back to haunt him in the long run once the FBI figures out whats going on. It would not surprise me in the least if this ends up being season six’s main arc.
Ray Donovan airs Sundays on Showtime.
