One of the many people to get hit with stray bullets in this recent Drake–Pusha T feud is definitely former OVO collaborator, Quentin Miller. Best known for his work with Drake during the If You’re Reading This, You’re Too Late sessions, Miller has steadily built his own career and name in the music industry since the infamous release of the reference tracks he did for Drake. Having worked with the likes of Hit-Boy, Travis Scott and Pusha T over the past three years, the Atlanta father of two has built his own brand over time. This week, Miller decided to chime in on recent events as they pertain to him.
On his “Destiny Freestyle”, which is an adaptation of a previously released record by Miller, Quentin addresses everything from his relationship with Drake to Nicki Minaj. In the first verse, Miller addresses the progression of his career in vague way when he raps, “What’s for me? It be what I’ma get/Hecklers want to buy my set/I am not upset, jokes on you/I still got a check.” In the second verse, Miller gets more direct when he raps, “Name drops, name drops, I hear name drops/Associates, old friends, got suggestions/Nicki poppin’ on, she never met me/Niggas got opinions, don’t even know me/I don’t even want the crown, I’m just doin’ me/Mike Will, Metro, they ’bout as old as me/Wanna be mentioned with them, not just some old beef/If You’re Reading This was like 2015, I lost a leg in ’16/Look, if you can’t tell by now, I ain’t ’bout the hype/I create waves, I’m not the wave ridin’ type.”
Miller is definitely a part of the fabric of rap today, but he is looking to strengthen his own brand. Let’s see how he is going forward.
