The Seattle Seahawks have the worst offensive line in football. This group is so bad that they only have one starter that grades above 55 by Pro Football Focus this season. Despite spending the least amount of cap space on the offensive line of all the 32 teams, head coach Pete Carroll doesn’t think this unit needs to be improved upon.
“This group has a chance to be really solid as they grow,” Carroll said, via ESPN’s Sheil Kapadia. The coach noted that the offensive line is an “easy target.”
I hate to be negative but that statement is the furthest from the truth. It’s hard to think a pair of undrafted tackles (George Fant and Garry Gilliam) will suddenly become all-pros. Fant was even a former basketball player and has graded out as the worst tackle in football this season.
The other starters are Mark Glowinski (a former 4th round pick), Justin Britt (a former 2nd round pick), and Germain Ifedi (The 2015 first round pick). Of that group on Britt has performed to a reasonable level. Seattle allowed 42 sacks (six most) and 111 quarterback hits (fourth most) which is a ton considering Seattle has one of the most mobile signal callers in the league with Russell Wilson.
