Moving on is hard, but rekindling an old flame can be even harder. In the latest adaptation of Jane Austen’s work, Netflix’s Persuasion will place Dakota Johnson in the lead role of Anne Elliot as she debates whether to move on for brighter pastures or listen to hear heart’s desires. It’s all very confusing, but very entertaining to watch in a fictional setting.
“Living with her snobby family on the brink of bankruptcy, Anne Elliot is an unconforming woman with modern sensibilities. When Frederick Wentworth—the dashing one she once sent away—crashes back into her life, Anne must choose between putting the past behind her or listening to her heart when it comes to second chances,” the trailer’s description reads.
Persuasion is the latest Netflix trailer to arrive in the last few days. Within the last day, the streaming giant has shared a teaser for season two of Squid Game, a recap of Umbrella Academy‘s latest chapter and the first look at The Future Of. Now, Persuasion joins the lineup as Netflix attempts to pull back viewers this summer. Check out the trailer for the new project before it drops on July 15, 2022.
