‘Fast and Furious’ star Paul Walker has died in a car crash earlier today.
Walker was a passenger in a Porsche when the driver lost control of the car and hit a pole. The car then caught fire. Both occupants were killed in the collision which happened as they were on the way home from Walker’s charity event Reach Out Worldwide. The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Office pronounced both dead at the scene.
His rep confirmed the news via his Facebook page.
A statement from Universal Pictures said: ‘All of us at Universal are heartbroken”.
“Paul was truly one of the most beloved and respected members of our studio family for 14 years, and this loss is devastating to us, to everyone involved with the Fast and Furious films, and to countless fans,” said the statement. “We send our deepest and most sincere condolences to Paul’s family.”
Walker was 40 years old. He was currently working on ‘Fast & Furious 7’. His other credits include ‘Into the Blue’, ‘Flags of our Fathers’ and ‘She’s All That’.
Walker is survived by his 15-year old daughter Meadow.
