In what seems to be a trend around the NBA today among its players, Paul Pierce recently said that he could never play for the Lakers, his hometown team.
Pierce, spoke Sunday at the NBA Player Awards explained his reasoning.
“It’s a dream come true to be able to come home (and play for the Clippers,) Pierce said.” “I grew up a Laker fan, but playing on all the Boston Celtic teams there’s no way I could go there so this was the next best choice. It’s always been a dream to play in front of my family and friends.”
Pierce is originally from Inglewood, CA where the Lakers used to play before moving to the Staples Center.
Now Paul Pierce is not in his prime anymore, so whether the Lakers would even want him at his age seems very doubtful, then again the Lakers might be desperate enough to get anybody they can these days.
It’s been a rough couple off seasons for the Purple and Gold. At one point the Lakers were the top spot for free agents to flock too, but after the past three off seasons, missing out on Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Love, LaMarcus Aldridge, the only name the Lakers can seem to acquire….. Jeremy Lin and Roy Hibbert. I guess Lou Williams is an upgrade, but he might be the number one option on that team, which isn’t saying much.
Here’s to D’Angelo Russel Lakers fans.
