Apparently Paul Dano is about to be asking a lot of questions. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dano has been cast opposite Robert Pattinson as the Riddler in Matt Reeves’ adaptation of The Batman.
The film will apparently serve as somewhat of an origin story for the classic Batman villain. Dano will portray a version of the character named Edward Nashton, who eventually takes on the name E. Nygma to complete his transformation into the Riddler. Dano is joining quite an impressive cast. Alongside Pattinson in the titular role, Zoë Kravitz will appear as Selina Kyle/Catwoman and Jeffery Wright as Commissioner Gordon. Jonah Hill was in talks to join the pic at one point, however, talks with him fell through this week.
Dano had a small part on The Sopranos early on in his career but his breakout role came in 2006’s cult hit, Little Miss Sunshine. Since then he’s starred in such critically-acclaimed films as Prisoners and There Will Be Blood. Most recently, he starred in Showtime’s Escape at Dannemora, earning an Emmy nomination for his performance.
The Batman is set to hit theaters on June 25th, 2021.
