There are few areas in the nation that do a better job of protecting its culture and style than the Bay Area. Whether its LaRussell showing love to J. Valentine during a recent episode of R&B Money or Larry June collaborating with E-40, one generation of Bay Area artists is always showing love to another generation. With her latest release, “Hurricane,” Paris Nights continues the tradition.
Paying homage to The Click’s “Hurricane,” Paris Nights’ “Hurricane” comes complete with a visual shot at Ahn’s Burgers. Sitting with a burger and a drink, the Bay Area shouts out her late uncle and the city that raised her while popping s—t and giving game with a seemingly effortless delivery.
“H—s call it quits, baby and I call the shots,” she raps. “Heavy pointer flawless and it’s just a promise rock. It ain’t a stress reliever if my n—g hit your spot. She reminds you of my songs. Baby boy, it’s a bop.”
Rapping over D’Angelo’s “Lady,” “Ex-Factor” by Lauryn Hill and several other classics, Paris Nights has built up a major following. More recently, she headlined Yoshi’s in Oakland and stopped by The Corner Store in Los Angeles. With the West Coast behind her, she is poised to make her presence felt in the Bay Area and beyond.
