The New York Giants may be in for a standoff with their star WR. Odell Beckham Jr is reportedly prepared to sit until he receives a new, long-term contract. NFL Networks Ian Rapoport weighted in on this report this morning.
From @gmfb: My understanding is that #Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr will not set foot on a field without a new contract extension agreed to — with the #Giants or any team. … This comes a day after owner John Mara said no one is “untouchable” in trade talks.

The New York Giants picked up Beckham’s fifth-year option, worth $8.5M, for 2018 but the WR seeks more long-term security. Odell stated in an interview last summer that he wanted to be the NFL’s highest-paid player.
During his first three seasons, Beckham was a bonafide star in each year since being drafted Odell put up at least 90 receptions, 1,300 yard, and 10 touchdowns. He would have continued his pace if he hadn’t fractured his ankle four games into the 2017 season.
Odell Beckham Jr isn’t without his issues though, he has been the center of a few distractions throughout his young career. He has drawn criticism for being on a yacht days before a playoff game, his multiple breakdowns on the sidelines and the recent video showing him with a “brown cigarette.”
Beckham is a star wideout but may be trying to live above his pay grade. He is easily a top offensive weapon when healthy but he has missed time in three of his four seasons and is apparently a locker room distraction. The Giants will have to make a decision on whether their future contains Odell or not.
