June is slated to be recognized as African-American Music Appreciation Month, but many of the major music releases are coming in the month of May. Leading the way, Isaiah Rashad returned from a five-year layoff to drop “Lay Wit Ya” with Duck Deuce. This week, J. Cole is preparing to release his penultimate album, The Off-Season. At the end of the month, Swizz Beatz will roll out the first posthumous album from the late DMX. Now, it appears that Nicki Minaj wants to release new music as well.
Nicki Minaj got her fans riled up by posting cryptic photos on Twitter. Backed by Chanel products and a giant neon sign with her name, the New York native can be seen grabbing a pair of pink pillows and seemingly wearing nothing but pink crocs. The photos were coupled with a caption that simply reads, “Friday.”
The instant reaction is to think that new music on the way. However, the 10-time GRAMMY nominee has her hands in a number of other industries. Friday could allude to a new episode of Queen Radio, a tour announcement or even a collaboration with Chanel or crocs. Not to mention, she hinted that her relationship with Drake had improved last year. With Drake’s Certified Lover Boy coming this year, the two could be releasing a track together. Simply put, the word “Friday” and two photos could be referring to a number of different things.
