To the pleasure of Nicki Minaj and annoyance of others, Ms. Minaj keeps bringing in the wins. 4 albums in into her roller-coaster career, it’s not a doubt that Nicki has carried the weight of “female rap” on her back for years. With a new wave of women entering Hip-Hop, the Queen creator has shown she’s not done just yet.
Starting off 2019 winning big, Nicki Minaj officially becomes the first female rapper to cross 100 million RIAA certified units, according to Chart Data. Earning this on the 10 year anniversary of her debut album, Pink Friday, the honor factors in the rapper’s albums, singles and guest feature appearances. Nicki is only the fourth woman to earn this and now joins singers Rihanna, Katy Perry, and Taylor Swift.
Letting us know that she has no plans on stopping any time soon, we can only see that number substantially growing. Congratulations, Nicki!
