Nick Young Suffers Torn Ligament In Right Thumb
Los Angeles Lakers guard Nick Young suffered a complete tear of the radial collateral ligament in his right thumb and his agent, Mark Bartelstein, says it should sideline Young for six to eight weeks. Young is expected to miss part of the start of the regular season.
Young underwent an MRI exam on Friday after injuring the thumb in practice on Thursday while guarding Kobe Bryant. It apparently happened on a play where Young was trying to swipe the ball from Kobe and his thumb got tangled and swelled up.
Surgery awaits Young, who averaged a career-high and team-best 17.9 points per game for the Lakers last season, on Monday. He re-signed a four-year deal with the Lakers this summer.
