It’s one thing to release a project, but it’s an entirely different thing to make a statement while doing so. In the opening moments of The Pound, Nezi Momodu manages to do just that.
“You’ll never find two Dallas artists that sound the same — the whole world trying to sound like everybody else, but we out here scrappin’, trying to let people know how different we are. Ain’t no place in the world like Dallas,” Nezi Momodu says as The Pound begins.
The Pound showcases the talent that has been evident through her previous projects like The Endless Hour and Seasons. Whether its the hard-hitting title track with D-Truce or a more explicit record like “Menagé,” the Dallas native proves time and time again that she’s willing to just go for it and see how people react afterward. Above all else, her pen game shines through regardless of the type of production or topic. Time and time again, The Pound allows Nezi Momodu to prove that she can deliver any topic in a creative manner.
Riding high off of a feature on Logic’s latest album, Vinyl Days, Nezi Momodu is poised to make noise all throughout the second half of the year. On Sunday, she’ll take the stage alongside the Maryland native in her hometown of Dallas, Texas at the Dos Equis Pavilion. From there, the sky is the limit.
