The Biden administration has unveiled its plans to celebrate the holiday weekend.
On Tuesday, President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden will host a social gathering on the South Lawn with live musical performances from D-Nice, Ne-Yo and Brothers Osborne. The White House has also invited singer-songwriter Becca Rae Greene, “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band, U.S. Army Band, U.S. Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps, U.S. Navy Band and the U.S. Air Force Band.
President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden have hosted two previous Independence Day celebrations during their time in the White House. In 2021, the Bidens invited more than 1,000 people to celebrate the holiday as stay-at-home orders were being lifted during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This year, the Fourth of July is a day of special celebration, for we are emerging from the darkness of years; a year of pandemic and isolation; a year of pain, fear, and heartbreaking loss,” the President said in 2021.
Last year, the Bidens invited pop singer-songwriter Andy Grammer to perform at their July 4th celebration. However, a mass casualty incident in Illinois hours before the celebration shifted the tone of the event.
This year, the President and First Lady will host guests at the South Lawn before delivering remarks and watching the annual fireworks celebration at the National Mall.
