There was a time when a film like ‘When We First Met’ would be the Valentine’s Day movie of the year. It’s the prototypical date night movie that will more than likely go through two or three emotional beats ultimately leading up to a happy ending, and that’s not a bad thing. These movies are few and far between these days and while traditional studios aren’t sold on the investment in these films anymore, Netflix knows there’s a bunch of softies out there like myself who will buy these movies hook line and sinker every time.
This marks the second collaboration between DeVine and Netflix, although this film will ultimately be released before ‘Game Over, Man’. We got our first look at ‘Game Over, Man’ earlier this year when Netflix dropped the trailer for the Die Hard-esque comedy starring the Workaholics team. If DeVines first two Netflix films go well, one could expect Netflix to try and link him and potentially the rest of the crew to a long-term deal.
We’ve attached the official trailer and synopsis for ‘When We First Met’ below. The film is set to drop on Netflix on February 9th.
‘Noah (Adam Devine) spends the perfect first night with Avery (Alexandra Daddario), the girl of his dreams, but gets relegated to the friend zone. He spends the next three years wondering what went wrong – until he gets the unexpected chance to travel back in time and alter that night – and his fate – over and over again. Will Noah ever get it right? Directed by Ari Sandel (The DUFF) the film also co-stars Shelley Hennig, Andrew Bachelor and Robbie Amell’ Via Netflix
