
Nene moved to his more natural position of power forward when Marcin Gortat was traded to DC, but says he doesn’t mind making a potential move back to center. The Big Brazilian is versatile enough to play either position, and would benefit from being able to play both positions if the Wizards plan on going small.

“…I have no problem playing the four or five. The thing is how they play me and how intense it is,” he said last month. “That’s the only concern. Right now, I’m going to have to take care of that. I’m going to have time to lift or do whatever I need to do to feel better.”
Randy Wittman has made it clear that the Wizards plan on adjusting their lineup in the offseason so they can play small ball, which means Nene will need to both spend time in the weight room and on the court working on his shooting. With their normal lineup, Nene will have to be ready to be more aggressive on his shot, while he should have no problem bullying other bigs in the paint.
When the season comes, Nene will be ready to be the starting power forward, but will also be prepared to play center when necessary.The big man will be ready to do whatever is asked of him when next season rolls around.
