With the coronavirus outbreak affecting the everyday operations of a lot of the world, the NBA has been one of the several major sports organizations affected. Earlier today, the Golden State Warriors confirmed that their home games will be played without fans for the foreseeable future following a ban on gatherings of 1,000 people or more. Shortly thereafter the NCAA announced this year’s NCAA tournament will be played without fans in attendance to mitigate the effects of the coronavirus.
In a call amongst the members of the NBA’s Board of Governors earlier this evening, the prevailing notion among the leagues governing officials is that the remainder of the NBA season should be played without all spectators or possibly suspended altogether, as reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Zach Lowe.
Reporting with @ZachLowe_NBA: Consensus among owners on Board of Governors call with league office was either continue season with no fans in arenas — or have NBA take a hiatus for a period time. NBA is expected to have a decision as soon as Thursday on next steps.
