At the 2019 BET Awards on Sunday, Sony Pictures released the trailer for their latest gritty cop film ‘Black and Blue’. Starring Naomi Harris and Tyrese Gibson, we see a rookie cop (Harris) battle with corruption in her police precinct and also battle for her life.
Harris witnesses a murder by a fellow cop and after falling from a building, she begins to hide from police through out the city as they look to retrieve ‘body cam’ footage of the murder. The corruption runs even further when the Police get gangs in the local community to put a hit out on her.
Gibson plays a friend of Harris who tags along for this adventure. As Harris tries to find shelter in her community, she’s rejected because of the colour of her clothing and Gibson is there to help. Together, they find a way towards justice and saving Harris from a rather sticky situation.
The film is directed by Deon Taylor (The Intruder, Traffik) and written by Peter A. Dowling (Reasonable Doubt), Black and Blue co-stars Reid Scott, Mike Colter and Frank Grillo. It releases in theatres everywhere October 25th.
