Mustafa is quickly becoming one of the more talked about prospects in the world of music. Coming out of Toronto, Mustafa has made his name as a poet, film director and activist. Recently, he’s stepped into the world of music and made contributions to The Weeknd’s Starboy, Camilla Cabello’s debut album and Taylor Swift’s Lover. Now, he’s pushing forward with the release of his debut project from Regent Park Songs called When Smoke Rises.
When Smoke Rises is a soulful and spiritual experience that is quite hard to capture words. Time and time again, the Toronto native paints a picture of what it’s like to grow up as a young Black man in Canada. To promote the project, he recently made his late-night television debut on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Adding to the hype built around the project, he has now stepped into the Regent Park School gymnasium for a special performance with YouTube. Offering performances of “Air Forces,” “Separate” and “The Hearse,” Mustafa gives a brief insight into what new listeners can expect from him.
