Often praised for his storytelling abilities through his music, the skill is so great that it doesn’t often require for us to exactly fact check for what’s being said. Most recently telling a story, that has an underlying message of racial profiling, on his 4 Your Eyez Only album, “Neighbors” is a tune that quickly caught the attention of many.
Having his home raided by law enforcement out of neighbors suspicions that drug-related activity was occurring in a home he rented, J. Cole included the footage in his 4 Your Eyez Only HBO film. Going even further, the rapper went ahead and released the 1 minute and 19 second clip on his official Vevo page as a “music video” for the single.
