Mulatto releases the official music video for her song “Cheerleader” from her last project Hit The Latto.
Directed by Diesel Films and Mulatto herself, the music video explores the dynamics between a fictitious Northside and Southside athletic rivalry. Mulatto who sports a glittery burgundy uniform repping for Southside is joined by her own squad, putting on for their school.
The opposing Northside team and Mulatto’s girl-gang eventually meet in the middle for an intense show-down. In the end, team southside comes out as superior.
While the song title may imply spirited encouragement from one group to another, Mulatto actually uses “Cheerleader” to call-out groupies and haters. The hook repeats “Hoe ass nig*a, you ain’t nothing but a cheerleader” over the bass-filled, gloomy trap beat.
Mulatto continues her efforts of becoming one of hip-hop’s next big things. Earning a spot on Def Pen’s list of artists to watch in 2020, her distinct southern flair gives her an edge as she continues to grow and mature in music and style.
