NCAA Investigation
After the NCAA investigated the relationship between Mohamed Bamba, a University of Texas Freshman, and Greer Love, a financial advisor, they found no wrong doing. Bamba supposedly accepted impromper benefits from Love his brother alleges. Ibrahim Johnson, Bamba’s brother alleges he took money, shoes, and was bought plane tickets to fly cross country. Johnson stated in a Facebook Live video he reported Bamba to the NCAA for receiving impromper benefits.

The NCAA announced today they found no problems with the relationship between Bamba and Love. In a statement released by the NCAA, they found a pattern formed by Love. Love’s actions toward Bamba and the gifts given did not violate amateurism rules. Love runs a mentorship program and has given the same types of benefits Bamba received to other students in the program. Due to other students in the program are not playing collegiate sports. As a result, this helped make Bamba and Love’s relationship permissible.
Impact at Texas
With Bamba cleared to go at Texas this winter he will immediately upgrade a defense already rated top 25 on Kenpom. Bamba has ridiculous length standing at seven foot even, with a seven-nine wingspan. His offense is still catching up to his defense but expect Bamba to have an Anthony Davis like impact. Bamba’s team success might not be as good but his defensive impact could be similar.
Already projected as a top five pick Bamba is definitely in consideration for the top spot. He should replace Jarret Allen at the 5 spot for the Longhorns. While he isn’t as polished offensively as Allen who was fairly raw himself. Defensively he is on another level and should put Texas in the NCAA Tournament for the first time under Shaka Smart.
