For the second time in four years, the Milwaukee Brewers will compete in the postseason as NL Central champions. The Brewers locked up the divisional crown on Sunday afternoon as they knocked down the Mets with an 8-4 win. As a result, they will avoid a single-elimination play-in game to start the 2021 MLB postseason.
With the divisional crown locked up, the Brewers still have a bit more to play for in their final six games. If Milwaukee finishes the season strong, they can end the season with a better record than every single AL playoff team. In return, they would have home-field advantage if they were to advance to the World Series.
Before they can take advantage of home-field advantage in the world series, they must take care of their first playoff series. The Brewers will take on either the Phillies or the Braves in the NLDS, which starts on October 8.
