Miles Teller and Jonah Hill have teamed up for a different kind of buddy-comedy film directed by Todd Phillips (The Hangover). The movie, which is based on a true story, is about two young stoners who are hired by the U.S. government to profit off of war by selling arms to the Afghan military.
Here’s the full synopsis:
Based on a true story, “War Dogs” follows two friends in their early 20s (Hill and Teller) living in Miami Beach during the Iraq War who exploit a little-known government initiative that allows small businesses to bid on U.S. Military contracts. Starting small, they begin raking in big money and are living the high life. But the pair gets in over their heads when they land a 300 million dollar deal to arm the Afghan Military—a deal that puts them in business with some very shady people, not the least of which turns out to be the U.S. Government.
We’ve seen Jonah Hill conquer the buddy-comedy film with Michael Cera in Superbad. He’s come a long way since then and he looks to have some chemistry with Teller in the trailer. This looks like a unique comedy project with the context of war as the backdrop, such is the typical aim for comedies to flirt with a bit of controversy.
You can see Teller and Hill in action when War Dogs hits theaters on August 19.
