Kyrie Irving’s future is still very much in the air. The Cleveland Cavaliers point guard has requested a trade and given the team his list of preferred destinations.
Irving doesn’t have a ton of leverage to force his way to specific teams but some organizations may be wary of trading for the guard knowing that he will likely bolt after two years as a free agent.
However, it’s possible that Irving will add more to his ongoing list. According to his former teammate Mike Miller, the Denver Nuggets could be one of those late additions.
Following via Miller’s appearance on Altitude Sports 950, transcribed by Adam Mares of Denver Stiffs:
“I’ve already asked that question. I don’t know if I can give you the answer but I’ve already asked that question. I think he will [consider the Nuggets]. I really do. Like anything else, when people look at cities, Denver’s an unbelievable city, we all know that. And with what the organization has built there, he would be crazy not to and he’s definitely, definitely interested in it.”
The Nuggets are an interesting team. They are filled with young players, including Nikola Jokic who showed last season that he could be a star. They need more proven players if they wish to take the next step towards the postseason and Irving could be the one to take them there.
