Utah Jazz forward Gordon Hayward has not officially made a decision on his future with the franchise that drafted him and rebuilt with him as the core piece. The All-Star wingman can hit the free agency market this summer and it appears that three teams are in the hunt for him.
The incumbent Utah Jazz has the best chance to keep him both financially and roster-wise. The Boston Celtics employ his college coach Brad Stevens as their head coach and have the promises of a top team in the east but the Miami Heat promise something different.
They present an opportunity to not only switch conferences but also be the prime focus of the offense alongside two fringe all-stars in Goran Dragic and Hassan Whiteside with some potential young pieces around that trio. Miami has some promising signs for the future and it appears they’re preparing to make their run for Hayward.

The next tier of teams might have to take more risks to increase their game-to-game variability — and nudge their ceiling up, Morey said. Houston traded a first-round pick for Lou Williams, a streaky scorer who might give an underdog two or three crazy outlier games it needs to pull off an upset. Other rivals will need to hit home runs on those trades, or preserve cap space for long-shot runs at stars in free agency. Miami is loading up now to pursue Gordon Hayward, according to league sources.
