Houston native Megan Thee Stallion has announced that she is partnering with the Roc Nation School of Music, Sports and Entertainment at Long Island University to launch a scholarship fund. Together, the two parties will offer a full scholarship to a student at the university seeking to pursue a career in music, sports or entertainment.
In addition to offering a scholarship to one deserving student, the GRAMMY winner will also speak to students at the university as well. As part of the “Industry Expert” speaker series, the Houston native will speak to students about her experience in the entertainment industry thus far.
“Getting an education is incredibly important to me,” she said in a prepared press statement.
“I still have academic goals that I want to achieve, so if I can use my resources to open doors and create opportunities for at least one student, then it’s a victory. It’s important that we encourage our students to pursue their passions and put them in positions to become the next game-changer in whichever fields they choose.”
Megan Thee Stallion is in a unique position as a global superstar. While she has the fund to support another college student, she is one herself. The Houston native is currently pursuing a degree in Health Care Administration at Texas Southern University. Upon graduating, she opes to open and maintain assisted living facilities across Texas.
