Megan Thee Stallion’s relationship with Carl Crawford and 1501 Certified Entertainment appears to be irreparable. A recent report from TMZ indicates that the artist’s legal team is seeking to depose J. Prince on October 24, 2022 and Carl Crawford on October 25, 2022. Megan Thee Stallion is also expected to be deposed in October as well. However, a specific date has not yet been revealed.
The Houston native’s attempt to depose Crawford and Prince come hours after she filed a legal complaint against 1501 Certified Entertainment. She is currently seeking $1 million in damages. The Grammy Award winner’s legal team claims that she is owed damages due to the label’s “underpayment of royalties.” 1501 Certified Entertainment is also being accused of “wrongfully [allowing] for excessive marketing and promotion charges to be deducted from amounts owed to Pete under the recording agreement.”
Beyond financial disputes regarding royalties and marketing, Megan Thee Stallion has also accused Carl Crawford and 1501 Certified Entertainment of leaking her sophomore studio LP, Traumazine.
“[Megan Thee Stallion] requested 1501’s assistance with [investigating the leak] but, to date, 1501 has not taken any action to help investigate,” a copy of the complaint reads, according to Variety.
“Under those circumstances, Pete had no choice but to release Traumazine early…If that were to occur, every minute that passed once the music was leaked would equate to lost earnings, lost chart position, and lost data for everyone — Pete, 1501, and 300 Entertainment.”
