New York native Mase is reportedly heading out to the City of Angels. The former Bad Boy Records artist is shifting his business over to Death Row Records. The Harlem native shared the news in a video on his Instagram account earlier this week.
“I’m on Crenshaw — just passed Pico, just passed Slauson — and I’m out here to meet with Snoop so I can do another joint venture with Death Row Records,” Mase said.
“I’ll be officially the first one signed to Bad Boy and Death Row. And we gon’ get the Tupac thing rekindled. Let’s see where we go with that.”
Moving to Death Row Records will provide Mase with the opportunity to work with Snoop Dogg. The West Coast legend secured ownership over the brand from MNRK Music Group back in February.
“I am thrilled and appreciative of the opportunity to acquire the iconic and culturally significant Death Row Records brand, which has immense untapped future value,” Snoop Dogg said after buying the label he was once signed to.
“It feels good to have ownership of the label I was part of at the beginning of my career and as one of the founding members. This is an extremely meaningful moment for me.”
Not long after taking over Death Row Records, Snoop Dogg appeared on Drink Champs with N.O.R.E and DJ EFN. During their two-hour conversation, the California native hinted that a partnership between Bad Boy and Death Row could be in the works.
“We can show growth and progression that we can move forward. We can take this Bad Boy x Death Row what it used to be, and make it a collaboration on peace and love. ’Cause that’s who I am. I’m Suge and Puffy,” Snoop said.
With Mase moving to Death Row Records, it’s unclear what this would mean for any potential partnerships given his tenuous relationship with Sean “Diddy” Combs. Only time will tell.
