Despite winning nine Grammy Awards, four American Music Awards and twelve Billboard Music Awards, Mary J. Blige is showing no signs of slowing down. Tonight, the talented New York native shared her fourteenth studio album. With production form D’Mile, DJ Khaled and others, the 13-track project includes features from Fivio Foreign, Dave East, Usher and Anderson .Paak.
“Working on this new album has been so much fun,” Mary J. Blige told Rap-Up about her new album in December.
“I’m excited for my fans to hear these first two songs to give them a taste of what’s to come. I’m grateful to all my collaborators and partners who have walked with me through this process and even more grateful to my fans who I hope have a blast with this new music.”
Mary J. Blige’s weekend is far from over. This Sunday, she’s set to perform alongside Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem and Snoop Dogg at the Super Bowl. It’s unclear how or when she’ll appear, but it’s presumed that “Family Affair” will be a part of the set list.
“Dre is the one who called us all to be part of this moment and it’s an honor because we love and respect him so much,” she told USA Today about her upcoming performance.
“Everyone (in the lineup) is an artist that Dre produced or wrote for or has a connection. You get that call and you’re like, ‘What do you want me to do and I’m there.’ And if he gives you two or three minutes of Super Bowl time … wow.”
