Marvel has unveiled the title of the fourth Captain America movie within its cinematic universe. The Anthony Mackie-led picture will be called Captain America: Brave New World.
Mackie turns over the mantle previously held by Chris Hemsworth. The veteran actor began to transition into the role during Disney+’s 2021 series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
“This is not only a highly engaging action-adventure series about who will be the next Captain America superhero, [but] it also offers an informed discussion about symbolism, race, American history, heroism and image,” David Zurawik of the Baltimore Sun said of Mackie’s latest series.
“A fascinating look at the inner lives of these heroes, one that simply wasn’t on offer in the films,” Zaki Hasan of the San Francisco Chronicle added.
Carrying the shield, Anthony Mackie will make his heroic return to theaters on May 3, 2024. Marvel is also set to release Thunderbolts, Deadpool III and Blade later in the year. In the meantime, Marvel will focus its cinematic efforts on its 2023 slate of projects, which includes The Marvels. Also, Sony is set to release Kraven The Hunter.
