Aaron Goodwin, Chriss’ agent, speaks out about the lack of meaningful minutes his client has received since being traded to Houston. “Marquese didn’t ask to be traded to Houston” he remarked to Yahoo. Mike D’Antoni, coach of the Houston Rockets, spoke highly of Chriss and his ability stating only that the Rockets are deep and he has good players ahead of him. D’Antoni suggests it’s just not “(Chriss’) time.”
Marquese Chriss was a former number eight pick in the 2016 NBA draft as was seen as an exciting prospect at the time. His enticing athleticism and defensive upside landed him firmly in the top ten and with Phoenix. Chriss averaged just over 22 minutes per game for both of his first two seasons in the NBA with Phoenix, but has only appeared in 15 games for Houston this season and averages under 7 minutes for those appearances. Chriss is behind many vets on the depth chart including Nene Hilario, and newly aquired Kenneth Faried.
Chriss is still under 22 and is looking forward to what will hopefully be a long NBA career. Goodwin says “I would hate to see a career derailed because teams feel he cannot play at the level he did before the trade.” Chriss will be looking to showcase his talents and potential any chance he gets in a Houston Rockets’ uniform.
