The Brooklyn Nets are signing former Miami Heat power forward Markieff Morris to a one-year deal to provide depth to the roster. With the Kevin Durant trade saga over the team is now looking to fill out the roster and prepare themselves for the upcoming 2022-23 NBA season. The Brooklyn Nets are hoping that they can compete for an NBA Championship this year now that Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are staying with the team for now. Morris will provide NBA Playoff experienced depth to the roster this season.

Due to an injury last season, Markieff Morris played just 17 games with the Miami Heat. In those games, he averaged 7.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. He paired those numbers with a field goal percentage of 47.4 percent and a three-point percentage of 33.3 percent. The hope for the Brooklyn Nets is that Morris will be healthy this season and can contribute as depth for the team this season. He was a member of the Los Angeles Lakers when they won the 2020 NBA Finals, so he does have NBA Championship experience.

The Brooklyn Nets roster is close to complete now barring any trades the team decides to do before the season starts. Markieff Morris is a solid depth signing and should help the team down the stretch of the NBA season. Players like Morris can help talented teams compete for an NBA Championship. For the Brooklyn Nets, winning that title is the main goal moving forward.
