The Brooklyn Nets and star forward Kevin Durant have agreed to move forward with their partnership. General Manager Sean Marks, Head Coach Steve Nash, and team owner Joe Tsai all met Kevin Durant and his manager Rich Kleiman in Los Angeles. The two sides met and agreed it was best to move forward together. With a trade package for Durant seeming unlikely and with him not wanting to retire this seems like the best option for both sides. With this news, it also seems unlikely that point guard Kyrie Irving will get traded.
In the end, Kevin Durant and the Nets played out in a similar way to Kobe Bryant and the Lakers in 2007: A tumultuous summer after a trade request, talks with teams, no deal and ultimately a decision to return to the franchise.

Last season with the Brooklyn Nets, Kevin Durant averaged 29.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game. He paired those numbers with a field goal percentage of 51.8 percent and a three-point percentage of 38.3 percent. While the team was swept in the first round of the 2022 NBA Playoffs, they still hope to be NBA Championship contenders next season with the return of Kyrie Irving and Durant. They also made changes to their role players this offseason.
The Kevin Durant trade discussions are over, the Nets say. He’s under contract for four years. https://t.co/Xnwk4rPW8q

The Brooklyn Nets held firm throughout the offseason despite the constant rumors surrounding the franchise. With the Kevin Durant saga over now the team can focus on getting ready for the season and hopefully competing for an NBA Championship. Now perhaps the Nets and the NBA as a whole can move on to other things in the NBA offseason.
