The Milwaukee Bucks have cruised through the season behind the MVP-caliber play of Giannis Antetokounpo and the stellar coaching of first-year head coach Mike Budenholzer but now come across a roadblock.
A number of solid role players elevating their games this season is what turned the Bucks into a true title contender this season, but they will now have to survive without one of their most important supporting pieces. Guard Malcolm Brogdon, who left during Friday’s win over the Miami Heat, is set to miss 6-8 weeks with a minor tear in his right foot’s plantar fascia according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Malika Andrews.
Milwaukee Bucks guard Malcolm Brogdon is expected to miss six to eight weeks with a minor plantar fascia tear in his right foot, league sources told ESPN.
There is optimism that Brogdon could return closer to the six-week mark, sources said, but that still would leave the Bucks without their starter until the postseason.
Brogdon, who has started all 64 games he has played this season for the Bucks, has missed a handful of games due to soreness related to his plantar fasciitis. Tony Snell often started in his absence.
Clearly an issue Malcolm Brogdon has been battling through the entire season, the timing for his foot injury to flare up couldn’t be worse. The playoffs sit less than a month away now and Milwaukee will have to navigate the remainder of the regular season without their young starting shooting guard.
With this current timetable in place, Brogdon should be able to return sometime during the playoffs, likely after the first round if the Bucks are able to take care of business. The Bucks are viewed as one of the Eastern Conference elite and will need Brogdon and his playmaking if they hope to advance deep into the postseason. Brogdon’s averaged 15.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 64 appearances for Milwaukee this season.
