Major movie theaters are reopening around the country and they are adjusting their face mask regulations. Moving forward, AMC, Cinemark and Regal Theaters will allow vaccinated ticketholders to enter theaters without face masks.
“Consistent with the latest CDC guidance and following consultation with public health experts, AMC Theatres guests who are fully vaccinated are no longer required to wear face coverings at AMC locations, unless it is mandated by state or local ordinances,” AMC stated.
“Masks will not be required unless mandated by state and local guidelines,” the site says. “Where masks are mandated, they can be removed only while eating and drinking while seated in an auditorium,” Regal adds.
However, this new policy will not extend to employees. Those working within the theaters will be required to wear masks regardless of state and local guidelines.
This news comes as major film releases are beginning to pull in more customers. In recent weeks, A Quiet Place II, Cruella and Spiral have all showed promise at the box office.
