It’s unclear how much the four-season agreement will pay Gordon, with reports varying from $82 million to $84 million.
Gordon is coming off a career-best season with the Magic, averaging 17.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and one steal in 33 minutes per game. He played in 58 contests, starting in all but one game.
Standing 6-foot-9, the athletic Gordon holds the ability to play multiple positions. He spreads the floor, runs in transition and has a unique ability to finish around the rim — including dunks both flashy and powerful. His talent and athleticism at such a young age intrigues many onlookers across the league.
Gordon, 22, is entering his fifth NBA season with the Magic. Orlando selected him with the fourth overall pick in 2014 after he spent one year at Arizona. Several teams expressed interest in his services, including Indiana, Phoenix and the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Magic hired new coach Steve Clifford in May and lost free agents Marreese Speights and Mario Hezonja this weekend. Their interest level in bringing back Arron Afflalo remains unclear.
