Lovie Simone has landed her next major role in the upcoming series, Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln’s Killer. As the title suggests, Apple’s newest limited edition series will explore the story of how Abraham Lincoln’s War Secretary Edwin Stanton tracked down the President’s assassin, John Wilkes Booth. Simone will play the role of Mary Simms, “a former slave of the doctor who treated Booth’s injury and gave him safe harbor after his crime.”
Simone is one of the fastest rising stars in film and television. With an incomparable charisma and expanding skill set, she has managed to land roles in Greenleaf and Power Book III: Raising Kanan. She’s also earned film credits in Selah and the Spades and The Craft: Legacy.
In her latest endeavor, Simone will be joined by James Swanson and Anthony Boyle. Swanson is set to play the role of Edwin Stanton while Boyle portrays John Wilkes booth. Behind the camera, Monica Beletsky will work as the show’s lead writer, executive producer and showrunner.
At this time, there is no word as to when the project will be completed and hit the small screen.
