Lizzo has joined forces with SZA to deliver the “Special” remix. Falling in line with Lizzo and SZA’s most recent albums, the remix to the Max Martin-produced single is an upbeat, uplifting self-love anthem.
“Woke up this mornin’ to somebody judgin’ me/No surprise they judgin’ me, don’t know who I’m ‘posed to be/I’m just actin’ up, I’m crass as f*ck, and never sayin’ sorry/Found out in the end that I can only do it for me,” SZA adds to the track.
“You call it sensitive and I call it superpower/You just lack empathy ’cause you think it gives you power/All I know is only God can judge me/I don’t hide my heart, I wear it on me.”
Lizzo’s “Special” remix arrives less than a full week after “About Damn Time” won “Record of the Year” at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards.
“When we lost Prince, I decided to dedicate my life to making positive music,” Lizzo said as she accepted the award.
“After feeling misunderstood as a young artist, I wanted to make the world a better place, so I had to be that change, to make the world a better place.”
SZA will soon have her time on the award show stage. Earlier this week, she earned the “Woman of the Year” award from the 2023 Billboard Women in Music Awards. She will formally accept the award at the YouTube Theater on March 1, 2023.
