Tha Carter VI will arrive in 2025, according to Lil’ Wayne.
On Monday, January 20, 2025, the avid sports fan traveled to Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia to watch the Notre Dame Fighting Irish battle the Ohio State Buckeyes for the 2025 College Football Playoff Championship. During the festivities, Mel Mitchel and AT&T caught up with the New Orleans native to talk about a few things, including his long awaited album, Tha Carter VI. While he didn’t offer too many details, the iconic act provided a one-word answer when asked if his next project would drop in 2025.
“Confirmed,” he said.
Lil’ Wayne’s word echo sentiments he shared in an Instagram clip last fall. In fact, he went as far as to joke that he was already working on Tha Carter XXVI.
“I’m working on Carter VI. I just want you to know that, I just never finished. I’m lying, I’m working on Carter 26. I think you already know that,” he told his fans.
Nearly five years have passed since the release of his previous studio album, Funeral, but he’s kept his fans fed with a joint project with 2 Chainz and a series of features. Looking ahead, the New Orleans native has already made plans to return home for the New Orleans Jazz Festival this spring.
