This summer, some of boxing’s biggest stars have made a great effort to elevate their ring walks to new heights. Most notably, Eminem joined Terence Crawford at T-Mobile Arena before he won the undisputed welterweight title. Elsewhere, Kash Doll walked Claressa Shields to the ring in June and Sada Baby walked Alycia Baumgardner to the ring just a few weeks later. This weekend, the trend of high-profile ring walks continued as Lil’ Durk joined Jake Paul as he made his way to the ring to fight Nate Diaz. With all eyes on him and Paul, the Chicago native made the decision to announce the release of the deluxe edition of his latest album, Almost Healed. Lil’ Durk rocked a white t-shirt with red lettering that reads, “Almost Healed Deluxe. August.” Unfortunately, it didn’t offer a specific date.
Lil’ Durk shared Almost Deluxe in May. The 21-track LP featured J. Cole, Alicia Keys, Rob49, Morgan Wallen, Future, Kodak Black, Juice WRLD and 21 Savage. Moving 125,000 units in its first week, the Chicago native’s eighth LP debuted third on the Billboard 200 chart.
“But despite the evolution in his life, his latest album sees him stray away from stories surrounding his lavish lifestyle. Instead, the hard reality of fatherhood and sustainability in the hip-hop industry is setting in. 7220 touched on these topics, with Durk’s crooning bars becoming the highlight of the album. However, Almost Healed does so in an even more revealing manner,” Caleb Hardy of HotNewHipHop wrote.
“Lil’ Durk stays true to himself and offers up a project that many of his day one followers and fans in the streets can appreciate,” Jessica McKinney added.
Lil’ Durk was able to move listeners and critics alike with the original. Now, fans will have to wait just a few more weeks for the deluxe.
