Leon Bridges may be a Texas native, but his latest release is inspired by a hotel and bar hundreds of miles away in East Hollywood, California. The R&B creative put together the vision and sound for his new album at Gold Diggers, a three-in-one bar, hotel and studio.
“We felt like the only way to unlock a unique sound was to create this immersive experience and find a place that was aesthetically inspiring,” Bridges told Apple Music about Gold Diggers Sound.
As he settled into his home away from home, Bridges started crafting tracks like “Motorbike,” “Why Don’t You Touch Me” and “Sweeter” with Terrace Martin. Fans have pointed out that his approach to this album may have been a bit different from previous releases and that’s because he made it a point to go to the basics. Feeling free in his new environment, Leon Bridges began building his favorite tracks from improvisation and jam sessions.
“It definitely felt the most liberating to me,” he said about the process of making the album.
“I was just able to be myself and let go of any inhibitions and create without any boundaries.”
Leon Bridges was able to push his boundaries and find a new home in East Hollywood. As a result, the fans won. Check out his new album below.
