Entertainment mogul Lena Waithe has reportedly signed on to serve as an ambassador for the 2023 American Black Film Festival.
“I am so honored to have been chosen as ABFF’s 2023 Festival Ambassador,” Waithe said, per Variety.
“I am excited to collaborate with the festival to shine a light on unique and groundbreaking stories and the creatives behind them.”
Waithe wrapped up the fifth season of The Chi earlier this year. Also, Waithe executive produced several music videos for Davion Farris. The ABFF ambassador will also produce Chang Can Dunk, A Thousand and One, Being Mary and Birth of Cool.
“Lena is a powerhouse in the film and television industry and a trailblazer for emerging creative artists. Her commitment to elevate diverse voices personifies ABFF’s commitment to diversify Hollywood,” ABFF Ventures LLC President Nicole Friday told Variety.
“We are excited to have her unique perspective and talent as our 2023 ABFF Ambassador.”
This year, ABFF is set to take place in Miami, Florida on June 14-18, 2023.
