As if the LeBron James drama in Cleveland wasn’t already heavily debated, ‘The King’ has recently added wood to the fire.
His issues with teammates like Kevin Love and possibly Kyrie Irving are well documented and recently his playoff preparation includes unfollowing the Cleveland Cavaliers on all social media platforms, which of course sent the internet into a frenzy. LeBron is either trolling or really, really unaware of what goes on in the world today. All of these things further build the idea that LeBron might actually leave the Cavs if things don’t work out.
Now as the Cavs head into the playoffs, LeBron and his Cavs will be firmly in the number one seed and ready to roll through the Eastern Conference towards the finals but it appears that there’s a backstory to LeBron’s future, possibly beyond this season.
LeBron’s friend Carmelo Anthony has previously said he looks at his peers and said that he thought about their success and why he hasn’t reached those same plateaus. It may now appear that there might be a resolution to Carmelo’s problems and it could start with LeBron taking a pay cut to form a ‘superteam’ with his friends.
Following from Howard Beck of Bleacher Report.
Decisions have been made, trades forced, contracts signed, fates chosen, taking the teen stars down starkly different paths. The bond endures. The vision of a James-Anthony partnership does, too.
“I really hope that, before our career is over, we can all play together,” James said. “At least one, maybe one or two seasons—me, Melo, D-Wade, CP—we can get a year in. I would actually take a pay cut to do that.”
Maybe at the end of their careers, James said. Maybe sooner. One more ring chase, this time with everyone on board.
“It would be pretty cool,” James said. “I’ve definitely had thoughts about it.”
Before bounding away, he smiles and closes with a coy chirp: “We’ll see.”
