When LeBron James makes insane plays, they are all over your television for seemingly weeks.
That is exactly what happened early in Game three of the 2018 NBA Finals. With the Cavaliers down 0-2 in the series, James was going to have to do it all to all to get the Cavs a win. Just a few moments into the game, he literally did it all.
It doesn’t actually count as a rebound, assist, and points, but it was essentially all three. With the Cavs leading 10-4 and the shot-clock winding down, James found himself in an isolation situation with JaVale McGee guarding him. With few options left and little time, James pumped fakes to get McGee in the air before rifling the ball off the backboard to himself for a monster dunk:
LeBron set the tone early: this is going to be a tough game for the Warriors. Given the Cavs got blown out in game two despite LeBron’s great stat line, it is obvious why LeBron feels compelled to make big plays and set the tone early.
Fans are going to be talking about this play for a long time. LeBron simply would not be denied, and with nowhere to go, he still found a way to make an insane play. That is what the King does.
The Cavaliers carried the momentum of this play throughout the rest of the first quarter, as they went into the break between the first and second leading 29-28. The team had a great start, and LeBron getting everyone on the roster hyped up and into the game early was a huge part of that. He continues to absolutely dominate the 2018 NBA finals.
