With the NBA trade deadline only hours away we have seen plenty of rumors, but no action as of right now. The Denver Nuggets have been linked to moving Ty Lawson surprisingly. Lawson has been rumored to be on the trading block and Wednesday was an indicator that Lawson’s time in Denver might be coming to an end after missing the teams first practice since the All Star Break. The Nuggets are sitting at 20-33 on the season and they’ve had nights where you’d think they had plans to be doing anything but basketball.
Recent trade rumors of Ty Lawson being available have come out of the woodwork some saying Lawson is available and others stating he is off the market. Head Coach Brian Shaw spoke with the media on Wednesday about the situation:
“We had a week off or nine days between games, and you expect everybody to be here,” Shaw said. “It disrupts the planning of everything, in terms of you count on somebody in practice. But he’s not here so we had to go without him.” – Chris Dempsey Denver Post
The interesting part in all of this Wednesday night a rumor of Head Coach Brian Shaw would like to be reunited with Veteran Point Guard George Hill. Shaw spent time with Hill in Indiana before accepting the Head Coaching position in Denver where things have certainly gone into a tail spin in his time there. With all the rumors around Lawson him being a no show Wednesday clearly means something could be in the works, but if I’m The Pacers I take Denver up on this deal any day of the week.
Lawson averaging 16 ppg and 10 assists has proven himself to be a very good point guard in The NBA. If The Nuggets want to make the mistake of losing Lawson to a injury riddled back up then I’d take advantage of that. Obviously more would have to come back in the deal for Denver and as long as the asking price isn’t too steep Indiana could use a player like Lawson if only Paul George was healthy this could send shockwaves through The Eastern Conference.
